TAHITI MONKEY
French Polynesia, better known generically as "Tahiti", which is the main island of the more than 100 islands that make up the archipelago, is a popular vacation destination in the South Pacific. This is the origin of the famous Tahitian Monoï, made from two of its natural treasures:
Aromas of Tahiti
The Gardenia Taitensisalso called Tahitian Gardenia o Tiare Tahitiis a species of the Rubiaceae family.
The plant is native to Melanesia and western Polynesia. It was the Maohis, the inhabitants of the South Seas, who introduced it to the Cook Islands, French Polynesia and possibly Hawaii, during their long sea voyages.
Its flower, known simply as Tiare, is the national flower of French Polynesia and the Cook Islands. A symbol that emanates an enchanting and sensual aroma.
"The white gold of Tahiti" - the coconut (Cocos nucifera) - is a typical fruit of Tahiti and its islands. It produces an oil of incomparable fineness, light golden in color, rich in essential fatty acids, which is highly valued especially for its nourishing and moisturizing properties.

Gardenia Tahitensis
Pacific Islanders use these wonderfully fragrant flowers to make beautiful necklaces known as "Ei" in the Cook Islands, "Hei" in Tahiti or "Lei" in Hawaii.
According to Pacific Island traditions, the way a flower is worn indicates marital status. A flower in the left ear means that the person is engaged, and behind the right ear that he/she is still available.
It is this gardenia tahitensis, which is used to make Monoï de Tahiti, a unique oil perfumed by nature, which is made by macerating the flowers in coconut oil.

Production of Monoï de Tahiti
The best thing that can happen to a coconut.
Monoï de Tahiti Anakena is the result of macerating Tiare flowers (Gardenia tahitensis) in refined coconut oil (Coprah) and is produced exclusively in French Polynesia, following a strict traditional process.
Tiare flowers are harvested before dawn and soaked for 12 days in Coprah oil with a minimum concentration of 12 flowers per liter, using a special method of enfleurage. This process takes place at room temperature, which means that the oil is not heated. The flowers release moisturizing and nourishing ingredients and give the oil its typical fragrance. After this time, the macerate is left to stand for 24 hours. It is then filtered, cleaned and given a natural antioxidant (tocopherol solution).
Monoï de Tahiti oil is used in cosmetics either as a final product or as an ingredient in the manufacture of creams, lotions, shampoos and soaps.
