THE LIST OF
Although our company is headquartered on Easter Island, the full range of Anakena cosmetics in Chile is produced at the renowned Bellcos Laboratory in Santiago. Unfortunately, due to its isolation, Rapa Nui does not currently have the means to manufacture Anakena cosmetics there.
The complete range of our products is registered with the Chilean Public Health Institute (ISP) as required by law. The ISP registration numbers can be found on each package and in the details of each product below.
All cosmetic and personal hygiene products that you and your family use every day are in direct contact with the skin, the largest organ of the body, which absorbs everything that is applied to it. That is why it is so important to use only products that have the corresponding registration from the ISP, as this guarantees that they comply with the sanitary requirements existing in Chile.

In order for the consumer to immediately recognize the ingredients contained in a cosmetic product at the time of purchase, the ingredients must be identified on the packaging with uniform names. The INCI, i.e. all the ingredients of a product, must be declared on each cosmetic product, whether it is a cream, shampoo, soap or make-up.
The acronym "INCI" stands for "International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients". INCI names differ in many cases from chemical or pharmacy names. They are often short, systematic forms of the exact English chemical names. One of the main advantages of uniform labeling is that when buying a product, the consumer immediately recognizes whether it contains an ingredient to which he or she is allergic. INCI names are therefore used to label ingredients almost everywhere in the world.
Basically, all components used in the manufacture and still present in the finished product must be indicated with their INCI names on the packaging of a cosmetic product. The information is given in descending order of concentration, whereby the main components are listed first. Raw materials whose proportions are less than one percent are listed indistinctly at the end.
There are some special regulations for the description and listing of certain types of ingredients, such as those made from vegetable products, colorings, flavorings and others.
One way to know whether a natural ingredient has been altered or not is to look at its name in the INCI list. If the Latin name of the plant or raw material (e.g., coconut oil - cocos nucfera) is not modified, that means that no significant alterations have been made. If the ingredient has been modified or is synthetic, the name in English will be, for example: Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic / Capric Triglycerides, Stearates, etc.

Paraben Free!
Lovers of natural cosmetics are concerned about knowing exactly the ingredients that make up each product, before making the purchase decision. And one of the most important details to take into account is that the product is free of Parabens, as is the case of Anakena cosmetics.
But what exactly are Parabens? Parabens are chemical preservatives that are added to most cosmetics and personal care products, with the aim of making them more durable over time, preventing the appearance of microorganisms such as fungi or bacteria.
Parabens have been used for a very long time and are officially accepted by health authorities, due to their low concentration. However, in recent years, scientific studies have found that their presence in cosmetic products can cause more harm than good. Analyses carried out on breast cancer tissues have detected traces of parabens in almost 90% of the cases, which has set off all the alarm bells.
That is why it is so important to check the ingredients of the products we use on our skin and hair, not just cosmetics. We can easily identify parabens by reading the labels, where they will usually appear with their English names: methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben or benzylparaben.
Although there are still those who argue that the direct link between Parabens and cancer cannot be proven, at Anakena we care not only about beauty but also about health, that's why our products are Paraben free!
