We are pleased to announce that on December 20, 2023, the Senate passed the Law No. 21.646which prohibits animal testing for the production of cosmetic products in Chile. This legislation makes Chile the 45th country in the world to commit to the protection of animal rights, promoting more ethical and responsible practices in the cosmetics industry.
Law No. 21,646 amends the Sanitary Code and Law No. 20,380 on animal protection, establishing the prohibition of using animals for testing the safety and efficacy of cosmetic, hygiene and personal odorization products, and each and every one of their ingredients, combination of ingredients or final formulations. In addition, it prohibits the sale, commercialization, importation and introduction into the national market of cosmetic products whose ingredients, combination of ingredients or final formulations have been tested on animals to demonstrate their safety and efficacy, after the entry into force of the law.
