OUR MONOÏ OILS FROM TAHITI
French Polynesia is home to one of the world's oldest beauty secrets: Monoï de Tahiti. Made from two of its natural treasures - Tiaré flower and coconut oil - this oil has been part of Polynesian care rituals since time immemorial. At Anakena, we offer it in two unique versions: classic Tahitian Monoï Tiare, versatile and nourishing oil for body and hair, and the Monoï de Tahiti Ra'ā Pura-Pura, our uniquely formulated bronzer oil with shimmer. Each with its own personality - and both with the Appellation d'Origine seal.
THE FLOWER AND THE COCONUT - THE INGREDIENTS OF MONOÏ
Gardenia Tahitensis
Tiare Tahiti
The Tiare Tahiti (Gardenia tahitensis) is the national flower of French Polynesia. Wonderfully fragrant, it is a symbol of Polynesian identity and the soul of the Monoï. The plant is native to Melanesia and Western Polynesia - it was the Maohis, the inhabitants of the South Seas, who introduced it to the Cook Islands, French Polynesia and possibly Hawaii, during their long sea voyages. It is precisely this flower that is macerated in coconut oil to create Monoï de Tahiti, transferring to it its unmistakable and sensual aroma and its nourishing and moisturizing properties.
Coconut oil - the white gold of Tahiti
The coconut (Cocos nucifera) is an iconic fruit of Tahiti and its islands. Its refined oil, light golden in color and silky in texture, is exceptionally rich in essential fatty acids and valued for its nourishing and moisturizing properties. It is the perfect base for macerating Tiaré flowers and creating authentic Tahitian Monoï.
Ancestral beauty secrets
Pure Monoï oil originated in the South Pacific islands, where it has been used for centuries by the Maohis for curative, cosmetic and religious purposes. Monoï is one of the oldest preparations in the world. «ra'au Tahiti» - Tahitian knowledge of plants and their active ingredients to heal the skin and mind.
HOW MONOÏ DE TAHITI IS MADE
The best thing that can happen to a coconut.
Monoï de Tahiti is the result of a strictly controlled traditional process carried out exclusively in French Polynesia. Tiaré flowers are harvested before dawn and immersed for 12 days in refined coconut oil (Coprah), with a minimum concentration of 12 flowers per liter, using a special method of enfleurage. The process takes place at room temperature, without heating the oil. The flowers transfer their moisturizing and nourishing properties and their characteristic fragrance to the oil. After 12 days, the macerate rests for 24 hours, is filtered, cleaned and a natural antioxidant (tocopherol solution) is added.
Monoï de Tahiti oil is used in cosmetics both as a final product and as an ingredient in creams, lotions, shampoos and soaps.
Appellation d'Origine - Appellation d'Origine - Denomination of Origin
Monoï de Tahiti is the first cosmetic product in the world to receive an appellation of origin. Its entire manufacturing process is regulated and protected by the seal of origin. Appellation d'Origine, established by the French Decree of April 1, 1992. Both Monoï oils of the Anakena line bear this seal on the label on the back of each bottle.

Anakena Monoï de Tahiti is a product with truly miraculous effects for the protection and care of skin and hair. It is ideal for relaxing massages, hair care, velvety oil baths and much more.
Monoi protects skin and hair from moisture loss, preventing them from drying out. It is perfect for the care of sensitive, dry and irritated skin.
This valuable product is quickly absorbed by the skin, providing immediate and soothing hydration. Skin and hair are left silky and with a delicate aroma of tropical flowers that lingers even after several hours.
Especially recommended for use after a day at the beach or swimming pool.
To achieve the best possible effect it is recommended to use it once a week.
Hair
Apply to dry or damp hair, distribute well (from scalp to ends), wrap with a towel and leave on for as long as possible, at least 15 minutes, but preferably overnight.
After this time, wash with abundant water and apply Anakena Nourishing Shampoo, twice if necessary until the shampoo produces a little foam. Finish with Anakena Conditioning Balm.
Intensive care for dry hair: Massage a few drops of Monoi oil into the ends of the hair. Do not rinse.
Massage
Ideal for relaxing massages for young people, adults, seniors and also wonderfully suitable for babies.
Put a little oil in the palms of your hands and apply it gently on the area to be massaged.
It is recommended to start at the head and work down to the feet to take into account the energy pathways of the body.
Facial Care
Carefully apply a drop of oil to the face using fingertips in circular motions. Avoid the eye area.
Once the oil has been absorbed, it is recommended to use Anakena facial cream. This combination is especially recommended for facial skin prone to dryness.
After Shower
Spread a hazelnut-sized amount of oil between the palms of your hands and apply to damp skin after bathing or showering. Massage gently. The skin gains elasticity and becomes velvety.
Hand Treatment
We would like to give you a very special care tip with our wonderful Monoï de Tahiti oil:
Many people suffer from dry hands, especially in times of changing weather or people in medical professions due to the frequent use of gloves.
Monoi Anakena oil is a wonderful "remedy" for that dryness. Simply put some Tahitian Monoi in a container and dip your hands in the soothing oil for a few minutes. The palms and fingers can be massaged down to the nails.
This simple "hand treatment" is ideal for use before going to bed so that the oil remains in the skin throughout the night. Monoi relaxes the hands and cares for them at the same time.
Sun protection and after-sun care products
A "beach lover" should always carry his Monoï de Tahiti Anakena in his beach bag!
This delicious oil intensely cares for sun-stressed skin. Apply to the parts of the body most exposed to the sun such as the face, shoulders, décolleté and feet. The skin is soothed and recovers its elasticity.
Monoï de Tahiti provides a more golden and luminous tan, leaving a wonderful sensation of well-being.
IMPORTANT: Monoï de Tahiti does not contain any sun protection factor and therefore does not replace the use of sunscreen products.
Bath Additive
For a pleasant moment of relaxation and to protect the skin, add a few drops of Monoï Anakena oil to warm bath water. A delicate tropical scent will immediately be released, immersing you in a delightful dream of the paradisiacal islands of the South Seas.
The result is healthy skin that is silky soft, well hydrated and deliciously fragrant. After bathing, simply rub the skin gently with a towel so that the oil covers it like a protective layer.
