April 2025 marked the start of one of the most eagerly awaited international events of the year: the World Expo 2025 at Osaka, Japanunder the slogan "Designing Future Society for Our Lives.". This universal exhibition brings together more than 150 countries and millions of visitors around innovation, sustainability, culture and the future.
During the month of July, the Expo celebrates the Rapa Nui Weeka special program within the Chile Pavilion dedicated to highlighting the culture, art and identity of Easter Island in the international context. In this context, we are deeply proud that our brand, Anakena - Natural Cosmetics, is part of this exhibition with a selection of its natural products inspired by the island.
The Chile Pavilion and its cultural message
The Chile Pavilionentitled "Makün - The Cloak of Chile"was designed as a sustainable and symbolic architectural space, built in wood and inspired by the worldview of the Mapuche people. Within this environment, diverse territorial expressions of the country are displayed, including a space specially dedicated to Rapa Nui - the most isolated inhabited island in the world.
There, proposals related to heritage, handicrafts, literature and also to body care from a natural and respectful perspective are exhibited. It is in this context where products from Anakena - Natural Cosmeticsdeveloped not only in Chile, but also in different European countries. This presence reflects the international reach that a brand with deep cultural roots can have when combined with innovation, authenticity and long-term vision.
From a Rapa Nui kitchen to the global stage
The history of Anakena - Natural Cosmetics began in Rapa Nui, in a simple kitchen, preparing the first handmade soaps with natural ingredients from the island: local honey, coconut oil, botanical extracts. For six years, these products-along with moai-shaped candles, handmade chocolates, local herbs and many other items-were offered in our Rapa Nui Natural Products storelocated in the heart of Hanga Roa.
That experience was the basis of what today has become a natural cosmetics brand with international presencecommitted to quality, respect for the environment and identity of origin. At present, Anakena develops its products in Chile and Europe, with certified processes adapted to the highest standards of the European cosmetic market.
Taking Rapa Nui and Polynesia to the world
Being present at the World Expo in Osaka during Rapa Nui Week is more than a commercial opportunity: it is a symbolic instance that reinforces our mission of projecting Rapa Nui's culture, traditions and Polynesian heritage. through natural products that respect their origin.
From the most remote inhabited island on the planet to the heart of Asia, this moment represents for us a recognition of the constant work and coherence of a vision that was born far from the economic centers of the world, but with a strong anchoring in the essential: the value of the natural, of the authentic and of what has history.
We are deeply grateful for the support and endorsement of the Rapa Nui people. We feel that this is not only our brand, but also an expression of this unique community that we admire so much. To be able to take that spirit to the world fills us with joy and meaning.
