Ahu Nao Nao Anakena

The Ahu and the Moais of Anakena

The majestic and serene moais at Ahu Nau Nau, on Anakena beach on Easter Island.

"Ahu" is the name given to the platforms where the moai were erected, carved by the Rapa Nui to honor their ancestors.

The Ahu on Anakena beach is the Ahu Nau Nau, a platform with seven moais, five of which are in an excellent state of preservation compared to the other moai of Rapa Nui since they were buried in the sand for a long time, which protected them from erosion. Thanks to this, the beautiful drawings carved on their backs can still be appreciated.

Our cosmetics brand Anakena owes its name to this magical place.
