We would like to share with you some photos we took during an unforgettable visit to the Rano Raraku sector on the south coast of Rapa Nui in times of pandemic, while the Rapa Nui National Park is closed. We are very grateful to Ma'u Henua, the organization that is in charge of the administration of the Rapa Nui park, for allowing us this visit.<\/p>\n

Rano Raraku is one of the most emblematic and visited sites on Easter Island, since the interior and exterior of this volcano were used to carve the moais that were later transported throughout the island.

As you can see in the photos, the exterior of the volcano presents a large number of unfinished moais, some of enormous dimensions. There is the largest statue of the island, twenty-one meters high, which was never finished carving and is still attached to the bedrock.

To be able to walk for hours in this place that is so lonely at this time has been a very special experience. There is a very strong energy in Rano Raraku, a place that is so fragile because it is exposed to the natural elements and that, unfortunately, due to the closure of the island has not had enough resources for its maintenance.

With the opening of Rapa Nui on August 4, we hope that this unique place in the world will once again have the necessary means for its conservation.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
